| **Position Summary** |

| Under the supervision of the Pool Manager. Is responsible for ensuring safety in the pool area at the Aquatics Center. | **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** |

| 1. Ensures safety in the pool area at all times. 2. Teaches individual and group swim lessons. 3. May be responsible for basic pool maintenance and maintaining water quality standards. 4. Monitors individuals using aquatic facilities to include operation and safety of equipment. 5. Assists the Recreation Coordinator, Recreation Specialist, and Pool Manager. 6. Reports any unusual activities or unsafe conditions to management. 7. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned scheduled each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo Sandia. |

| **Additional Responsibilities** |

| 1. Performs other duties when requested. 2. Supports a single function and holds a position that does not supervise people but provides guidance to lower-level Team Members as needed. 3. Functions as an advisor to management due to the complexity of the level of work performed. 4. May hold current licenses, certifications, specialized education, and possess stipulated technical expertise as required. 5. Demonstrates advanced knowledge in all aspects of the specialized function. 6. Performs work as a highly skilled individual contributor and considered a subject matter expert within the peer set, particularly with problem-solving. 7. Critical thinking and the ability to analyze issues, identify solutions, and implement them effectively. |

| **Key Performance Indicators** |

| This position has Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) identified as a measurement of success. KPI’s will be shared with all team members who work in this job title and feedback will be provided regarding the successful completion of the KPI’s as part of the performance review process. |

| **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** |

| 1. Must be an excellent swimmer. 2. Ability to work under limited supervision. 3. Ability to work with both children and adults. 4. Knowledge of first aid. 5. Knowledge of Wellness Center and Tribal rules regarding facility use and operation. 6. Knowledge of general safety rules, equipment, games and operating procedures. 7. Knowledge of general safety, requirements and procedures. 8. Ability to follow directions. 9. Ability to get along positively with teammates. |

| **Education and Experience** | |

| Required: 1. High School diploma or GED equivalent required. 2. Must be at least 18 years of age. 3. Six (6) months of related experience or demonstration of expertise in aquatics through at least one (1) year of participation in organized aquatics activities. Note: Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy education and/or work experience. | |

| **License/Certifications/Registrations** | |

| 1. Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License. 2. Lifeguard Certification. 3. CPO Certification is preferred. 4. Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation and character investigation in compliance with PL 101.630. 5. Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening. | |

| **Finger Dexterity** | Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. |
