## Description
**Substitute Teacher**
**Reports to: Division Heads**
**FLSA Qualification: Non-exempt**
**Position Purpose: To teach, enrich, and reinforce the grade level/subject curriculum**
**Essential Functions:**

• **Respond to the needs – often with little advance notice – of a classroom, a program, and a group of students missing the full-time teacher;**
• **Teach the lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher, the appropriate department chair or the Division Head, allowing – when possible – the class experience to progress rather than simply providing classroom supervision;**
• **Support all school policies and procedures.**

**Qualifications:**

• **Associates Degree or 60 college hours, required.**
• **Experience working with youth in an educational setting, preferred.**
• **Ability to carry out lesson plans and manage students.**
• **Commitment to high ethical professional standards**
• **Collegial, enthusiastic, and engaging**

**Physical Requirements and Work Environment:**

• **Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.**
• **Generally works in standard office conditions and climate.**
• **Works in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.**
• **May work at a desk and computer and stand for extended periods of time.**
