Student-Biology Assistant

## Description

The Biology Lab Assistant supports the Biology Department by assisting faculty with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of teaching laboratories. This position provides students with hands-on laboratory experience while helping ensure biology labs operate safely and efficiently.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

• Prepare laboratory materials, specimens, and equipment for class activities.
• Set up and clean up biology laboratories before and after lab sessions.
• Clean, organize, and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces.
• Monitor laboratory supply inventory and notify faculty when materials need to be replenished.
• Assist with basic laboratory procedures under faculty supervision.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Biology Department.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods while performing laboratory tasks.
