Mechanical Design Engineer – Body Stuctures
Be part of a growing and energetic Body Structures team to engineer, execute and deliver cutting-edge products to global customers. You will work with cross-functional team members to continuously innovate and launch new products for Europe and other growing markets.
Responsibilities
Create and develop Body-in-White component and system requirements and specifications to achieve best-in-class system targets for function, cost, weight, investment, NVH, structural and crash performance
Create vehicle-aligned components and develop design concepts and production designs in both CATIA V5 and 3DX, support creation of component specification, component DFMEA and other technical design documents
Optimize the concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments, ensuring conformation to federal regulations governing assigned systems
Deliver world-class craftsmanship and fit/finish
Interface with suppliers, process and production for manufacturing, feasibility, validation, and other engineering activities as specified for the assigned commodity
Complete component and system validation as required, insuring system targets are met and optimized
Requirements
Education background in mechanical engineering, or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
Hands-on experience in automotive body design and engineering, knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes and lightweight, recyclable and sustainable materials
Minimum of 1 full development BIW life cycle through design, development, release and launch
Proficiency in both CATIA V5 and CATIA V6/3DX, good understanding of GD&T in design engineering
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to integrate state-of-the-art design and manufacturing methods into product concepts and designs, as well as capability to interpret CAE results and integrate recommendations into product designs
Ability to flexibly work in vague and constantly changing design direction and conditions
