Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer for our Berlin Technical Engineering Center, TEC. The Mechanical Engineer carries the mechanical engineering responsibility as the responsible initiator and coordinator for all processes in the Technical Engineering Center that involve commissioning, operation, maintenance and improvements of mechanical systems. As part of the Facilities team under the Facility Manager, you will ensure seamless operations of complex mechanical systems, supporting predictive maintenance, energy efficiency, and compliance.

Responsibilities

Own day-to-day operations, troubleshooting (pumps, pneumatics, fans, HVAC, chilled water, heating, piping, rotating equipment), routine maintenance, and root cause analysis using FMEA

Perform monthly cost analysis, predict utility usage, monitor trends/system demands, and identify cost reductions/improvements

Develop/modify SOPs and track countermeasures to completion

Lead end-to-end project management for installations, upgrades, and commissioning, including cost/benefit analysis and recommendations

Implement predictive/preventive maintenance strategies to maximize reliability and minimize downtime

Coordinate with EHS/Engineering teams for compliance/technical challenges, train personnel, and support mechanical automation/BMS integration

Manage project budgets (POs/invoices), respond to emergencies, and communicate risks/updates to Facility Manager/stakeholders

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; equivalent vocational training (e.g., Mechatroniker, Techniker) with several years of experience considered

Several years of experience in facility operations and mechanical systems in industrial/technical environments

Intermediate knowledge of mechanical principles/systems (pumps, compressed air, fans, flow meters, HVAC, chilled water, heating, piping, lifting equipment, vibration, heat transfer)

Hands-on commissioning experience with HVAC and related mechanical equipment

Proficiency in technical drawings, process flow charts, data analysis tools, CMMS, system monitoring, and MS Office

Strong troubleshooting/data analysis, project management (budgeting/vendors/cost savings), and predictive maintenance/FMEA skills

Familiarity with German/EU standards/regulations; Good German/English communication, teamwork, independence, and adaptability in fast-paced/complex environments
