About The Role

Join Marqeta, a leading fintech company, as the Senior Director of Investor Relations. In this pivotal role, you will lead and evolve the company's IR program during a period of growth and strategic transformation. You will serve as the primary architect of Marqeta's investment narrative and a trusted partner to executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and the global investment community. Your responsibilities will include leading the preparation of quarterly earnings materials, serving as the primary spokesperson with institutional investors and sell-side analysts, and partnering with the CFO and CEO to develop and refine Marqeta's long-term investment thesis. You will also build and maintain relationships with investors, provide board-level reporting, monitor the payments and fintech landscape, and partner closely with various internal teams.

  • Serve as the primary architect of Marqeta's investment narrative and a trusted partner to executive leadership.
  • Lead preparation of all quarterly earnings materials and serve as the company’s primary spokesperson with institutional investors.
  • High EQ, executive presence, and the gravitas to engage credibly with the Board, senior leadership, and the investment community
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial and technical concepts into clear, investor-grade language
  • Proven ability to operate with discretion, independence, and sound judgment in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in investor relations, equity research, investment banking, FP&A, or institutional investing — with a meaningful IR track record at a publicly traded company
  • Familiarity with payments, fintech, or transaction-based business models
  • Track record of building productive relationships with buy-side investors and sell-side analysts at a publicly traded company
  • Finance, economics, accounting, or related degree, with MBA or CFA noted as a plus
  • Strong command of equity valuation methodologies, capital markets dynamics, and institutional investor behavior
  • Bay Area based or willing to relocate; this role requires in-person engagement and regular travel
  • Demonstrated experience as a finance athlete: someone who moves fluidly between financial modeling, narrative development, and executive-level communication
  • Experience at a publicly traded payments network, card issuer, or embedded finance company
  • Existing relationships with institutional investors and analysts covering fintech/payments equities
  • Experience managing an IR team
  • MBA, CFA, or equivalent advanced credential
  • Exposure to agentic commerce, stablecoins, or next-generation money movement trends
