Master Control Operator, Washington DC

Join Agence France-Presse (AFP), one of the world's leading news agencies, as a Master Control Operator in Washington D.C. In this role, you will be responsible for producing and transmitting live and recorded video feeds, monitoring and troubleshooting signals, and operating Master Control equipment. The position requires a degree in broadcast technology or a related field, exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities, and a passion for video news.

• Monitor and control the on-air automation system, troubleshoot inbound and outbound signals, and operate all Master Control equipment for multiple video live feeds and recordings.
• Communicate with teams on the ground reporting on stories happening around the world, checking technical equipment is fully functional and ensuring smooth live broadcast.
• Work in shifts of eight hours, generally 12:00-8:00 pm, and may be required to work overtime from time to time, as well as public holidays.
• Hands-on and/or working knowledge of systems/equipment used in analog/digital/HD & 4K video/audio signals and monitoring equipment
• Experience in troubleshooting video and audio control systems
• Degree or diploma in broadcast technology or related field
• Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities, a passion for video news
• Strong interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to work under strict time deadlines, as part of a very busy team
• Knowledge of the needs of big broadcasters and international experience is a plus.
• Minimum two years’ professional experience preferred, but fresh graduate’s applications may be considered for this job.
• Native or excellent level of written and spoken English. French and/or Spanish is a plus.
