About The Role
Join Carmacks Enterprises Ltd., a leading heavy civil construction and highway maintenance organization. As a Cost Controller, you will oversee project costs, ensure financial accuracy, and support the financial health of the organization. Your expertise will help optimize budgeting processes, monitor expenditures, and maintain compliance with industry standards.

**What is the role?**
- Ensure that Project Management decisions are respected applied, and well documented
- Prepare 3 times yearly reporting for PM's relating to budget and forecasting with periodic updates
- Coordination of the corporate overhead budget 3 times yearly, with assistance
Perform detailed account analysis to identify variances, discrepancies, or potential cost overruns
- Ensure divisional operational accounts are reliable by checking and verifying; K factor (margin), job results, risks on receivables, stocks, follow-up on billing
- Ensure group management accounts are reliable; financial reporting; overhead; variances (labour and equipment), global risks
- Support month end activities including preparing/reviewing monthly and quarterly financial reporting
- Monitor project cost transactions and ensure costs are allocated accurately, and recoding where applicable
- Work with Project Managers to ensure that all costs are recorded monthly and all projects are billed monthly
- Assist in identifying ways to streamline the day-to-day project management, project coordinating, and project administration operations as they relate to the accounting department and make processes more efficient and accurate.
- Assist with external audit process including liaise with auditors, prepares and reviews working papers for auditors
- Respond to all inquiries from senior management
- Provide detailed variance analysis on a monthly basis, including but not limited to fuel and hourly labour
- Monthly environmental indicators audit and reporting
- Assess, support and advise senior managers
- Develop, recommend and implement general accounting controls and assist in audits
**What do we value?**
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in the construction industry or a project based environment
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in reporting in a multi divisional organization, preferably with experience in the construction industry
Professional designation (CPA)
- Experience in report design, implementation and support
- Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail in account analysis and bank reconciliation
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment while managing multiple priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
