Head of Commercial Finance
Board Intelligence · London, United Kingdom
About The Role
Join Board Intelligence as the Head of Commercial Finance, a high-impact role at the intersection of finance and commercial strategy. You will act as the primary financial partner to Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Product leadership, with direct exposure to the investor relationship, Board reporting, and PE value creation plan. This hands-on role combines operational depth with strategic breadth, offering genuine scope for expansion in seniority and remit as the business scales.
- Act as the lead finance partner to commercial leadership across Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success leaders, providing financial insight and challenge to support pricing and hiring decisions.
- Own the commercial revenue bridge and variance analysis, explaining performance drivers to senior stakeholders, and support go-to-market planning, new product launches, and market expansion business cases.
- Drive the annual budgeting process for commercial functions and manage reforecasting cycles, building and maintaining scenario models for key commercial decisions.
- Whether your background is in commercial finance, FP&A or advisory, this is an opportunity to shape and build a function from the ground up in a PE-backed, high-growth business
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; comfortable building models from scratch
- Deep understanding of SaaS or subscription business metrics (ARR, NRR, churn, pipeline conversion, unit economics)
- Experience in commercial finance, whether in investment banking, transaction advisory, commercial finance, FP&A, or corporate development, with demonstrable commercial acumen and analytical rigour
- Strong experience partnering with Sales, Marketing or commercial leadership teams
- Experience with revenue forecasting, pipeline analysis and variance reporting
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver insight that drives decisions, not just reports
- Ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear, actionable insight for non-finance stakeholders
- Driven by outcomes, not just activity - you care about whether your analysis changes decisions
- Proactive and can-do attitude – work proactively, take initiative and stay ahead of commercial trends and bring ideas to the table
- Structured and process-oriented - you build repeatable frameworks, not one-off analyses
- Comfortable operating independently and managing your own priorities across multiple concurrent workstreams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - able to present to senior stakeholders and the Board clearly and confidently
- Collaborative working style with a genuine interest in understanding the commercial context behind the numbers
