Associate Director of Project Management (Northwest)

Join AtkinsRéalis as an Associate Director of Project Management for the Northwest region. In this role, you will act as a technical advisor, ensuring alignment with national delivery standards and driving high performance across a £250-£300m portfolio. You will work closely with the DfE Client Director and the national framework team, providing oversight of project finances and contributing to the national P&L. This position offers a clear progression pathway toward Director-level leadership and the opportunity to make a significant impact on a nationally important education program.

• Act as a regional technical advisor lead across all Northwest Department for Education (DfE) projects, ensuring alignment with framework and national delivery standards.
• Provide assurance across the project lifecycle including governance, risk, and delivery strategies, and lead gateway reviews and portfolio-level performance improvements.
• Direct and influence project teams to ensure consistent, best-in-class delivery, and ensure seamless integration with the national delivery team.
• Experience delivering robust reporting into business P&L cycles
• Experience operating at portfolio or multi-project level
• Chartered status (APM, RICS, or equivalent)
• Strong background in public sector and education projects
• Strong commercial awareness, including fee, scope, and variation management
• Highly effective client-facing and stakeholder management skills
• We are seeking a credible senior leader with strong technical and commercial acumen
• Proven experience in project or programme management within the built environment
• Demonstrable knowledge of the DfE Technical Advisory Services framework
• JCT contract experience
• Experience working on national frameworks or large-scale programmes
