Electrical Engineer

Join our Engineering Services group as an Electrical Engineer. In this full-time permanent position, you will provide electrical design expertise for various building types in the commercial, institutional, recreational, and multi-residential markets. You will ensure compliance with technical requirements, conduct facility alteration permit reviews, provide non-resident engineering expertise, and coordinate technical elements of the program. You will also review deliverables, monitor designer input during construction, and provide management-level progress reports. A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical systems design, construction, and commissioning is required, along with a recognized degree in Electrical Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer.

• Provide advice, guidance, and subject matter expertise throughout the planning, design, and delivery of electrical systems design and construction.
• Ensure compliance of electrical systems design and construction with technical requirements, including design reviews, submittal reviews, and testing.
• Coordinate the technical elements of the program with respect to electrical systems engineering, including establishing targets/goals for the program.
• Knowledge of scope definition, project planning, cost estimation, and scheduling, testing, commissioning, project turn over, quality control and reporting
• Advanced knowledge of computer applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Office 365, project scheduling software, Maximo, ProjectWise, Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills including the ability to facilitate meeting / workshops with large groups of stakeholders
• Aviation experience is considered an asset
• Thorough working knowledge of: 27kV and 44kV distribution systems, power distribution systems and combined cycle cogeneration plants operating in parallel with the Utility
• Minimum of 7 years experience in the design, construction and commissioning of industrial and commercial electrical systems within a major capital project / program
• Experience of defining functional and technical specifications in line with business requirements and thorough working knowledge of requirements management
• Recognized Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
• Thorough working knowledge of airfield lighting, system safety design; electrical design/construction; operations and maintenance
• Knowledge of ISO 55001 Asset Management standard
• Understanding of stakeholder / regulatory requirements including but not limited to ICAO, Transport Canada Aerodrome Standards, airport operations (includes tenants, airlines, and travelers), HRDC (Fire Commissioner of Canada), Underwriters Laboratories (ULC), Code Consultants, and Health & Safety Consultants
