Specialist Engineer (Mechanical Equipment)

Join our team as a Specialist Engineer (Mechanical Equipment) and work in a fast-paced environment providing engineering services for Nuclear Power Plants. You will be responsible for preparing technical deliverables, performing conceptual and detail design activities, coordinating large scale projects, and providing engineering support to manufacturing, assembly, testing, and commissioning tasks. This position requires a minimum of 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years in the nuclear industry as a Senior Design Engineer.

• Provide mechanical and equipment engineering support for the preparation of technical deliverables, including specifications and commissioning plans.
• Perform conceptual and detail design activities for mechanical systems, including flow sheets, detail drawings, and equipment arrangement/layouts.
• Coordinate large scale projects of considerable technical and commercial complexity, and support manufacturing, assembly, testing, and commissioning tasks.
• This position requires experienced individuals who are self-starter capable of working independently and leading/supervising junior engineers
• Working knowledge of nuclear pressure boundary Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Sections III
• Specific knowledge and experience related to pressure vessels, valves, ventilation systems, as applicable to nuclear power stations
• Solid understanding of process systems, mechanics of machines, mechanics of materials, material selection and fundamentals of machine component design
• Specialist in one type of the equipment or component
• Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet corporate needs (Note: the initial site location is at the Mississauga head office in Ontario)
• Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science
• Experience working in or performing design work for a nuclear facility licensed in Canada or a nuclear reactor licensed outside Canada
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Registered Professional Engineer in a Province of Canada, qualified to seal mechanical and chemical engineering documents
• Solid understanding and experience with equipment sizing, selection, and troubleshooting of issues
• Qualification in the last five years as a Specialized Professional Engineer to ASME Section III Appendix XXIII for Division 1 is an asset
• Working knowledge of/experience with CSA B51 standard, ANSI B31.1 codes, ASME Section VIII and other nuclear-power-plant applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems is an asset
• Knowledge of pressure boundary work including pressure vessel design, analysis, code classification, code class boundary, non-destructive examination and design registration is an asset
• Knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing ASME Y14.5 standard is an asset
• Knowledge of seismic and environmental qualification methods and process is an asset
• Presentation skills and public speaking abilities is an asset
• A minimum of 15 years of experience (minimum 5 years in the nuclear industry as a Senior Design Engineer) Mechanical Design of industrial machines, automation equipment and/or in Equipment Engineering with knowledge in pumps, fans, motors, valves, heat exchanges, steam generators, pressure vessels, etc
