About The Role
Join our pre-training data team as a Member of Technical Staff (DX & Data Tooling Engineer). In this role, you will lead developer experience and data tooling efforts, building internal tools and infrastructure to enhance team productivity. You will have significant ownership over the team's day-to-day operations, with a broad scope and fast feedback loops. - Lead the development of internal tools and infrastructure to enhance team productivity, including dashboards, CLIs, and data exploration UIs.
- Drive tooling efforts across the stack, focusing on build systems, continuous integration, CLI tools, and internal web UIs.
- Engage with the team to identify pain points and proactively improve workflows, raising the bar on code organization and engineering best practices.

- We're looking for someone who genuinely loves hacking on things, shipping fast, and tinkering
- Genuine care for developer experience and best practices in code organization
- Based in San Francisco (this role is in-office)
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Good communicator who engages with teammates to understand their needs
- Bias toward action—sees something broken and fixes it
- Open source contributor — someone in the mold of tools like Ruff, uv, or similar developer-facing projects
- Build systems / CI experience — has written or maintained build systems, CI pipelines, or developer tooling at scale
- Startup product dev — comfortable moving fast, shipping throwaway prototypes, iterating quickly
