Senior Staff Software Engineer (Marketing Technology)

Join Airbnb as a Senior Staff Software Engineer in the Marketing Technology team. You will set the technical direction for the transformation into an AI-driven system, own the technical strategy across multiple teams, and partner with various stakeholders to define a multi-year technical strategy. You will also lead architecture and design reviews, mentor and grow engineers, and represent Marketing Technology in company-wide technical forums.

• Experience with Java, and/or Kotlin, LangGraph, GraphQL, relational and NoSQL databases, caching solutions like Redis, and microservice architecture
• Passionate about efficiency, availability, and system quality at scale
• 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including a track record of technical leadership at organizational scale
• Bachelor's and/or Master's/PhD degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Past experience with Marketing Technology or Growth platform systems is a plus
• Deep expertise in backend systems and large-scale, service-oriented and distributed architectures
• Exceptional communication and cross-functional influence skills, with experience driving initiatives that span teams, departments, and leadership
• Demonstrated ability to set technical vision and drive execution across multiple teams and stakeholders, with a track record of influencing engineering culture and standards beyond a single team
• Proven experience architecting and scaling agentic or AI-driven systems in production
