Staff Backend Engineer (Host Pricing & Availability)

Join Airbnb as a Staff Backend Engineer on the Host Pricing & Availability team. You will drive the technical strategy and delivery of Airbnb's pricing product roadmap, collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Data Science. You will architect and lead the technical strategy for our pricing and availability backend systems, develop and optimize core pricing and availability products, and contribute to the long-term backend system architecture. You will also champion engineering excellence by establishing architectural standards and mentoring senior engineers.

• Architect and lead the technical strategy for pricing and availability backend systems, ensuring APIs, services, and data pipelines are robust and evolve with business needs.
• Lead the development and optimization of Airbnb’s core pricing and availability products, collaborating with product engineers and cross-functional partners.
• Champion engineering excellence by establishing architectural standards and mentoring senior engineers to elevate the organization's technical maturity.
• Experience influencing cross-functional partners and engineering teams
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills
• Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality
• 9+ years of engineering experience with a BS/MS or PhD in CS or similar
• Expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures
• Proven track record of leading teams, setting technical strategy, and launching high-impact product features
• Strong problem-solving and production debugging abilities
