About The Role

Join Aiven, a leading open source data infrastructure company, as a Technical Product Marketing Manager. In this role, you will own the go-to-market strategy for Aiven's core open source products, develop competitive positioning, and create marketing strategies that drive technical buyers from evaluation to contract signing. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to build a forward-looking narrative and connect bottom-up developer adoption to top-down enterprise buying motions. This position offers a flexible work environment, stock options, and a range of benefits.

  • Own go-to-market strategy for Aiven's core open source products, including messaging, competitive positioning, and marketing strategy.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to build a forward-looking narrative for data infrastructure and AI.
  • Lead competitive intelligence program, building battlecards, hosting office hours, conducting win/loss analysis, and driving the “Why Aiven vs…?” narrative.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of: Kafka (or another streaming platform), PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, or a comparable open source data technology. You don’t need to write production code, but you need to understand how these systems work and where they fit in a data stack
  • 5+ years in product marketing preferably at a developer tools, data infrastructure, or cloud company
  • Strong written communication. You can take something complex and make it clear without dumbing it down
  • Experience collaborating directly with sales teams and customers. You’ve felt the difference between content that gets used and content that’s inauthentic and quickly discarded
  • Proven ability to build competitive positioning that holds up in real sales conversations—not just decks
  • Experience as a solutions architect
  • Background working with or alongside a DevRel or developer advocacy function
  • Familiarity with AI/ML data infrastructure trends and how teams are building AI-ready data pipelines
  • Exposure to partner or channel marketing (SIs, cloud marketplaces, ISVs)
  • Experience at a managed cloud services company or a multi-product data platform
