Identity Fraud Strategy Manager

About The Role

Join Avant, a leading financial technology company, as the Identity Fraud Strategy Manager. In this role, you will design and optimize identity verification and authentication strategies, balancing fraud loss minimization with customer experience. You will lead a team of fraud analytics professionals, partner with the Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) team, and serve as the strategic owner of identity proofing, account authentication, and account-takeover prevention.

  • Design and continuously optimize Avant’s identity verification and authentication strategies to minimize fraud losses and reduce customer friction.
  • Lead a team of fraud analytics professionals, partner with the Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) team, and serve as the strategic owner of identity proofing, account authentication, and account-takeover prevention.
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party identity verification vendors, manage ongoing vendor performance, contracts, and roadmaps, and define and track key performance metrics to measure strategy effectiveness.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering) or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical and data-storytelling skills; proficiency with SQL and at least one analytics/visualization tool (e.g., Python, Tableau, Looker)
  • Experience leading and developing analytics teams, with strong coaching and performance-management skills
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in risk and or fraud analytics
  • Knowledge of CIAM platforms, identity-proofing technologies, and access-management frameworks
  • Experience in financial services or another regulated industry
  • Experience managing third-party vendor relationships for identity or fraud solutions
  • Familiarity with NIST digital identity guidelines (SP 800-63), cybersecurity best practices, and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated track record of designing and optimizing risk-based verification or authentication strategies
