Electrical Engineer (Payload Systems)

About The Role
Join our payload hardware team as an Electrical Engineer. In this hands-on, collaborative role, you will design, develop, and integrate electrical systems for our payload. You will work closely with engineers from other subsystems and gain experience in assembly, integration, and system test processes. Responsibilities include developing flight hardware, owning the design cycle, troubleshooting and debugging electrical systems in the lab, documenting your design, and supporting integration activities. A B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 3-5 years of experience in electrical design and integration are required.
- Design and develop electrical subsystems, including payload electronics, power distribution systems, and interconnect solutions.
- Take a design from concept to schematic capture and PCB layout design, conduct multi-disciplinary design reviews, and develop and execute electrical test plans.
- Troubleshoot and debug electrical systems in a lab environment using test equipment, and maintain engineering documentation.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Experience with embedded systems and peripheral interfaces (e.g, I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, etc)
- Fundamental understanding of electronics, power systems, layout, and signal integrity
- Hands-on experience with electrical testing and debugging (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power meters)
- Familiarity with electrical design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Spice)
- 3-5 years of experience taking designs from schematic to layout, manufacturing and system integration
- A passion for learning and growing in the aerospace industry
- Attention to design details and eagerness to always improve design process and rigor
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset and the ability to communicate effectively
- Design experience with FPGAs and MCUs
- Working knowledge of space radiation effects and space design practices
- Exposure to satellite systems, bus avionics or payload electronics
