About The Role
Join Dutch, a fast-growing company in pet healthcare, as the Director of Human Resources. In this hands-on leadership role, you will build the people infrastructure, management practices, and employee experience required to support Dutch's next stage of growth. You will own the full employee lifecycle, serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team, and create an environment for high-performing employees to thrive.
- Own the full employee lifecycle, including workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits, employee relations, compliance, organizational development, and offboarding.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, executive team, and people managers on organizational design, workforce planning, performance, compensation, employee relations, and leadership development.
- Develop compensation philosophies, salary bands, leveling frameworks, promotion criteria, equity practices, and incentive programs that are competitive, equitable, and aligned with company performance.
- Willingness to challenge assumptions, surface difficult issues, and recommend decisive action
- Direct and compassionate communication style, including the ability to deliver difficult messages clearly
- Ability to balance employee experience with the needs, standards, and financial realities of the business
- Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment in which priorities evolve and leaders are expected to build rather than inherit mature systems
- Strong project-management skills and the ability to manage several complex priorities simultaneously
- 8+ years of progressive experience in human resources, people operations, or organizational leadership
- Excellent judgment, discretion, emotional intelligence, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- 3+ years leading the HR or People function, ideally within a venture-backed, high-growth, or rapidly changing company
- Experience supporting a distributed, multistate workforce
- Strong analytical orientation and comfort using data to evaluate organizational performance and make decisions
- Demonstrated ability to operate as both a strategic executive partner and a hands-on HR leader
- Genuine enthusiasm for Dutch’s mission and the opportunity to improve access to veterinary care
- Experience selecting and administering HRIS, payroll, benefits, applicant-tracking, performance-management, and employee-engagement platforms
- Experience in consumer healthcare, telehealth, pharmacy, veterinary care, subscription commerce, technology, or another regulated industry
