Engineering Manager (Building Generation)

Higharc · Spain

About The Role

Join Higharc, a leading company in the homebuilding industry, as an Engineering Manager for our Building Generation team. In this role, you will lead the development of our generative model and geometry pipeline, build out our European team, and coordinate with our North American team. You will have the opportunity to work in a remote-first environment with unlimited vacation and a comprehensive benefits package.

  • Lead planning and delivery across the generative model, geometry pipeline, and BDG APIs, ensuring coherence with the other BDG team in North America.
  • Build out the European BDG team by attracting strong computational geometry engineers in the region and growing the team sustainably.
  • Coordinate with the other BDG Engineering Manager to keep technical direction, interfaces, and the platform coherent across both teams.
  • You've spent your career deep in computational geometry and CAD — enough to evaluate technical proposals on your team and guide engineers through hard problems even when you're not writing the code yourself
  • You think in BReps, boolean ops, and dependency graphs
  • You're intellectually honest about what's hard, surface constraints early instead of overpromising, and use modern AI-assisted development practices to move your team faster
  • You've built parametric systems where the model is the source of truth for downstream geometry, drawings, or fabrication outputs, and you know what it takes to keep them robust at scale
  • You operate well in a distributed, async-first environment, and you partner with PMs naturally — translating product intent into technical scope, flagging feasibility risks early, and engaging engineers at the right moment
  • Familiarity with geometry kernels — commercial, open-source, or custom-built — and comfort with the trade-offs
  • 5+ years in software engineering with significant time in CAD/CAM or computational geometry, and 2+ years managing technically deep engineering teams
  • Strong expertise in parametric and generative modeling of 2D and 3D geometries — feature-based modeling, history graphs, dependency propagation, and keeping parametric systems robust at scale
  • Based in a European timezone
  • A delivery track record in a fast-paced, distributed environment
  • Deep background in computational geometry (boolean operations, mesh processing, BReps, constraint solving, or related areas)
  • Fluency in AI-supported software development practices and active use of them in your engineering workflow
  • Experience with platform development and API design for multiple internal (and ideally external) consumers, with attention to versioning, performance, and developer experience
  • Exposure to AEC or homebuilding software
