Senior/Lead Software Engineer (Layer1)

Join Arista Networks as a Senior/Lead Software Engineer, where you will work on Layer1 software that manages the physical layer of networking. You will be responsible for writing control software, building instrumentation and telemetry tools, and collaborating with various teams to bring new Layer1 components to market. • Conception, design, and management of the development of innovative Layer1 features.
• Development and maintenance of features using C, C++, and Python, including automated tests.
• Technical leadership across features, projects, and tools, mentoring new and junior engineers.
• Experience working with low level hardware components is a plus
• Ability to work in small teams
• Ability to design a solution and implement features independently
• Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems is a plus
• Applied understanding of software engineering principles
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux
• Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python
• Knowledge of digital communication technologies like modulation and signal encoding schemes is a plus
• Strong problem solving and software troubleshooting skills
• BS Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 8 years experience, or MS Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 6 years experience, or Ph.D. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 3 years experience, or equivalent work experience
