About The Role

Join Motive, a mission-driven and growth-focused company, as an Associate General Counsel, Litigation. In this high-impact leadership role, you will lead the litigation strategy, manage the litigation function, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders. You will develop a deep understanding of Motive's products, drive the litigation strategy, manage and develop litigation team members, and lead outside counsel selection and budget management. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of relevant litigation experience, strong judgment, executive presence, and a commitment to empowering colleagues.

  • Lead the development and execution of Motive's litigation strategy, including identifying and pursuing claims and counterclaims.
  • Manage and develop the litigation team, shaping the structure, priorities, and operating model of the litigation function.
  • Serve as a senior leader for litigation matters across the company, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
  • AI-first perspective, with interest in building and leveraging AI-driven tools
  • Expertise in initiating and leading complex IP, trade secret, marketing, Lanham and competitor-related disputes, with a demonstrated track record of wins
  • Strong judgment, executive presence, and ability to influence stakeholders across the business
  • US-licensed attorney with 10+ years of relevant litigation experience, with significant time at a top-tier litigation firm. In-house experience at a high-growth technology company a plus
  • Experience managing outside counsel, litigation budgets, and cross-functional internal teams
  • Significant trial experience, including dispositive motions, witness examination, and argument
  • Experience in litigation for a public company, including financial reporting, audit, and governance
  • Humble, low ego, deep commitment to empowering your colleagues
  • Willing to roll up your sleeves and do what needs doing
  • Expertise developing litigation strategy across all phases, including pre-suit assessment, TRO and preliminary injunction practice, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial, settlement, and appeal
