Director of Backend Engineering (Brokerage)

Join Galaxy, a leading company in the crypto economy, as the Director of Backend Engineering. In this senior role, you will design, develop, and optimize robust back-end systems that power our web and mobile applications. You will collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features and services. Additionally, you will stay current with emerging technologies and trends in back-end development, blockchain, and fintech to recommend innovative improvements.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance back-end systems, APIs, and databases that support the business’s web and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features and services.
• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment, including code reviews and automated testing frameworks.
• Must have experience from a retail brokerage
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience using Postman and Git / Bitbucket
• 10+ years of experience in back-end development, with at least 2 years in a senior role
• Strong experience with SQL and some exposure to NoSQL is nice to have
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Hands-on development experience in Node, Express, TypeScript and related frameworks like Nest.js to build REST API's and other services
• Experience with Microservices and Event based architecture
• Experience in using Caching and Messaging Queues like Kafka
• Prior experience working in a startup, taking a product from zero to one
