Staff Software Engineer (Calculation Engines)

• Design and build distributed microservice components in Addepar’s calculation engine, focusing on data-intensive applications.
• Scale the Java-based calculation engine to handle significantly larger workloads, utilizing best-of-breed time series analytics database technologies.
• Profile and improve system efficiency in a highly concurrent platform, making informed decisions to enhance data consistency, throughput, speed, operability, and cost.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Java, Python, SQL, SQS, relational databases and key-value stores
• Experience with Object Oriented programming languages
• General familiarity with some of the technologies we use:
• Kubernetes
• Ability to explore complex problems spaces objectively from multiple points of view, utilizing both legacy tools and modern technologies to drive outcomes
• Linux proficiency, basic shell scripting and a solid grasp of systems level programming is a plus
• 7+ years of software engineering or equivalent experience
