About The Role

Join Maven, a leading digital health company, as the Vice President of Design. In this AI-native role, you will modernize the design organization, connect design to business outcomes, and lead a team of approximately 15 designers. You will report to the Chief Product Officer and influence decisions at the executive level. Your responsibilities will include defining a cohesive design vision, leading product design across core programs, owning brand design, modernizing team workflows, and building and developing the design team.

  • Connect design to business outcomes by translating company goals into clear design priorities and ensuring the team is focused on impactful projects.
  • Drive conversion, member engagement, and clinical outcomes through design, not just aesthetics, and articulate the importance of design decisions in executive forums.
  • Modernize how the design team works by building an AI-native design practice, creating conditions for faster shipping without sacrificing craft, and embedding user research as a core input to every decision.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates craft across both product design and brand — you have taste, and you can articulate why it matters
  • High standards and low ego: confident in your point of view, collaborative in how you get there
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills — you can present to a CEO and give a designer line-by-line feedback on the same day
  • Experience in healthcare, benefits, or complex B2B/B2C hybrid businesses is a strong plus
  • A track record of partnering effectively with Product, Engineering, and Marketing at the executive level
  • Experience shipping AI-driven or conversational product experiences, or clear conviction about how to approach them
  • Experience running user research as a core function, not an afterthought
  • Proven experience building and scaling design systems in complex product environments
  • Experience building brands in mission-driven or regulated industries is a plus
  • Proven ability to connect design priorities to business goals — you think in outcomes, not outputs
  • AI-native working style: you use AI tools daily, you've built workflows around them, and you have strong opinions about how they change what a design team can do
  • 10+ years of design experience, including 4+ years leading multidisciplinary design teams in a product-led company
