Engineering Director (European Union)

As the Engineering Director for the European Union, you will lead a distributed engineering organization, partner with various teams to define and execute Monzo's European strategy, and shape the future of Monzo's international expansion. This is a unique opportunity to help build a European bank from the ground up.

• Lead and develop a distributed engineering organization across multiple countries, ensuring alignment and execution across various teams.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, Data, Operations, Risk, and Compliance leaders to define and execute Monzo's European strategy.
• Shape how Monzo approaches market expansion, localization, regulatory requirements, and multi-market product development.
• You have successfully operated in highly complex organisations where outcomes depend on collaboration across many teams and functions
• You can navigate ambiguity and create clarity where goals, ownership or priorities are not yet fully defined
• You have a strong track record of building high-performing leadership teams and developing future leaders
• You enjoy solving organisational and business problems, not just technical <ones.You> can balance strategy and execution, translating ambitious goals into tangible outcomes
• You are comfortable making decisions in environments where there is rarely a perfect answer
• You are energised by the challenge of building something new and helping shape the future of Monzo's international expansion
• You are exceptional at building relationships and influencing without direct authority
• You have experience leading large engineering organisations through other leaders, including Engineering Managers, Senior Engineering Managers and senior individual contributors
• You have experience scaling organisations through periods of rapid growth, organisational change or market expansion
