About The Role

Join our team as the Head of Control, where you'll lead the development of a modern first-line control environment aligned to technology, engineering, and product delivery practices. You'll embed control-by-design principles across architecture, software engineering, cloud platforms, and technology transformation programs. This highly visible leadership role offers the opportunity to influence strategy, drive meaningful change at scale, and lead a high-performing team across one of the UK's largest and most complex technology environments.

  • Lead the development and implementation of a modern first-line control environment aligned to technology, engineering, and product delivery practices.
  • Drive the adoption of automated, preventative, and real-time controls that improve resilience, reduce manual intervention, and support faster delivery.
  • Partner with senior leaders across Technology, Engineering, Data, AI, and Risk to ensure controls are embedded into products, platforms, and processes from the outset.
  • We're looking for someone who combines deep technical risk and control expertise with strong communication and collaborator management skills. You'll be equally comfortable discussing control automation with engineering teams, influencing senior technology leaders and helping the business understand how effective controls can support innovation and growth
  • Strong understanding of technology risk, operational resilience and control frameworks across cloud, platform and engineering ecosystems
  • Experience supporting large-scale technology transformation, including cloud adoption and migration from legacy technologies
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical and control concepts to a wide range of audiences and influence senior collaborators across Business, Technology and Risk
  • Significant experience leading first-line technology risk and control teams within technology-led organisations
  • Experience working with emerging technologies, including data and AI-enabled services, and understanding the associated control and governance considerations
  • Experience designing and embedding automated, preventative and real-time controls within complex technology environments
  • Strong leadership capability with experience building and developing high-performing teams through change
  • Deep understanding of modern technology environments, including cloud platforms, engineering practices, automation and software delivery
  • Experience operating within highly digital, engineering-led or organisations
  • Experience helping organisations modernise legacy technology environments and future-proof controls
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS or other major cloud providers
  • Experience implementing technology-enabled control monitoring and testing solutions
  • Experience embedding controls within AI, machine learning or advanced analytics environments
