Senior Infrastructure Specialist (zDatabase IMS Sysprog)

Join our team as a Senior Infrastructure Specialist, where you'll be responsible for the development, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of IMS and Datacom services across our zMainframe estate. You'll provide deep technical expertise, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of critical database and transaction processing environments. This position offers the opportunity to contribute within a cooperative, expert group setting that strongly supports knowledge exchange, creativity, and ongoing development.

• As a Senior Infrastructure Specialist, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of IMS and Datacom services across the zMainframe estate.
• You will provide deep technical expertise, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of critical database and transaction processing environments, and support strategic programmes and infrastructure change initiatives.
• You will collaborate with infrastructure, engineering, architecture, and application teams to deliver reliable and scalable services, and find opportunities for automation, optimisation, and continuous improvement across the platform estate.
• Extensive background as an IMS Systems Programmer in a z/OS Mainframe setting
• Demonstrated experience in installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining IMS and Datacom products
• Experience working within highly regulated or enterprise-scale environments
• Experience supporting large-scale, business-critical production environments
• A proactive approach and passion for delivering resilient, high-quality infrastructure services
• Effective communication and collaborator management skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with experience managing complex technical incidents
• Knowledge of mainframe operational practices, change management and service management processes
• Knowledge of automation, scripting or infrastructure optimisation techniques
• Understanding of broader z/OS infrastructure components and associated technologies
• Datacom Admin experience for z/OS
• Experience supporting modernisation initiatives involving mainframe platforms
