About The Role

Join PayZen as a Staff Software Engineer, where you'll work across multiple systems on open-ended problems in close collaboration with peers. Your impact will reach beyond your own workstream as you focus on the provider and partner platform, ensuring reliability under HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC 2 controls. You'll drive workstream delivery end-to-end, shape the direction of your product surface with cross-functional partners, and coach others on compounding their impact. Collaborate with peers to work across multiple systems on open-ended problems, ensuring reliability under HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC 2 controls.
Drive workstream delivery end-to-end, setting ambitious but feasible milestones, sequencing work to deliver value early, and unblocking others proactively.
Coach others on compounding their impact, giving actionable feedback across workstreams, and advocating for strong candidates at the hiring bar.
A track record of finding high-impact problems others miss and driving solutions end-to-end
8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale
Working knowledge of application security and compliance-regulated environments; HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or
Hands-on proficiency in at least one of Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript; you write and review code daily
Expert craft and strong systems thinking across multiple systems or surfaces
Experience building tools or shared systems that make a whole team faster
A habit of coaching peers and giving actionable feedback
SOC 2 exposure preferred
Experience setting ambitious but feasible milestones and sequencing work to deliver value early
