Senior Software Engineer (Internal Observability)

Join Snowflake, a rapidly growing company in the data platform industry. As a Senior Software Engineer in Observability, you will play a key role in defining and building the next generation of AI-powered observability for Snowflake's global data platform. You will design and build large-scale telemetry pipelines, architect AI-driven observability systems, and optimize observability systems for high scale, low latency, and cost efficiency. You will also mentor engineers and provide technical leadership in distributed systems, observability, and AI-driven diagnostics.

• Design and build large scale telemetry pipelines that ingest, process, and analyze metrics, logs, and traces across Snowflake’s multi cloud platform.
• Architect AI driven observability systems that leverage machine learning for anomaly detection, root cause analysis, and predictive insights.
• Define and drive standards for instrumentation, tracing, and telemetry across services, and build tools and platforms that empower engineers with deep visibility into system behavior and performance.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Scala, C++, or Python
• Solid understanding of system performance, debugging, and reliability engineering principles
• Deep experience building and operating large scale cloud services
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong focus on distributed systems
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and influence architecture decisions
• Experience designing telemetry systems including metrics, logging, and distributed tracing
