Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

Join Qualia as a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) focusing on UI automation. As the first SDET hire, you will take ownership of the existing automated UI test suite, triage failing tests, manage test pipelines within our CI/CD process, and enable the QA team to independently manage and maintain the test suite. Your work will directly impact the quality and reliability of Qualia's web applications.

• Maintaining and expanding automated UI tests written in Cypress, ensuring stability, efficiency, and scalability of the existing test suite.
• Triage failing tests, manage test pipelines within the CI/CD process, and enable the QA team to independently manage and maintain the test suite.
• Lead initiatives to improve the UI automation framework for better test performance, reliability, and maintainability, and introduce improvements in test strategy and automation tooling.
• SaaS or Real Estate / FinTech: Experience with SaaS applications or the real estate or financial technology spaces is a plus
• UI Automation: In-depth knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and the challenges of UI test automation in modern web applications
• Test Reporting Tools: Familiarity with Cypress Dashboard, GitHub, and/or Jira integrations for test reporting, analysis, and metrics
• CI/CD Familiarity: Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience with integrating automated tests into the pipeline. Able to triage test execution failures in CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions) and collaborate with the Infrastructure team to resolve issues
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Strong communication and mentoring skills, with a passion for teaching and enabling others, especially the QA team, in best practices for test automation
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and address issues with failing tests and ensure the health of the test suite
• Experience: 4+ years of experience in test automation, with a strong focus on UI testing and Cypress test automation
• Cypress Expertise: Extensive experience with Cypress, including writing, maintaining, and debugging automated UI tests. Comfort with expanding the Cypress framework and optimizing tests for speed and reliability
• Agile Experience: Comfortable working in an Agile development environment, collaborating in sprints with a focus on continuous improvement and quality
• Test Maintenance: Proven experience in maintaining and triaging automated tests, with an emphasis on ensuring test suite stability and reliability
• While this role is based in San Francisco, California, we're open to exploring remote possibilities for qualified candidates
• Test Management Tools: Experience with Testrail or other test management tools for managing test cases and tracking test results
