Senior Software Engineer (Financial Platform)

Join Zipline, a pioneering company in the drone delivery industry. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Financial Platform team, you will play a crucial role in building systems that transform operational activity into accurate and auditable financial records. Your work will directly impact Zipline's ability to operate and scale globally. You will collaborate with various teams, design and build backend services and full-stack apps, and automate reconciliation and manual accounting workflows. This position requires a strong background in building production backend systems and a willingness to participate in an on-call rotation. Regular on-site presence in South San Francisco is required.

• 5+ years building production backend systems and owning reliable services at scale
• Prior experience with billing, payments, ERP integrations, reconciliation, accounting systems, ledgers, or marketplace settlements is strongly preferred; it is not required
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and improve reliability through observability, incident reviews, and automation
• Regular on-site presence in South San Francisco to partner closely with Finance and engineering teams
• Strong distributed-systems design skills, including thoughtful data modeling, API design, and pragmatic architectural tradeoffs
• A rigorous approach to consistency, idempotency, transactional integrity, event ordering, failure recovery, and financial correctness
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders to understand complex workflows and deliver practical software solutions
