Software Engineer (Embedded Firmware)

Join Zipline, a leading drone delivery network, as an Embedded Firmware Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for building critical flight and safety software for our aircraft. You will collaborate with various engineering disciplines and work with C++, Rust, and Python. This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in hardware development and a strong software engineering background.

• Concevoir et construire le logiciel nécessaire pour exécuter des processus critiques de vol et de sécurité sur un réseau de microcontrôleurs, en coopération avec des ordinateurs de bord Linux embarqués.
• Comprendre et améliorer la fiabilité du système de logiciel de vol dans son ensemble, en travaillant avec des ingénieurs en matériel et en systèmes pour développer des stratégies complètes de gestion des pannes.
• Développer des métriques, des capacités de surveillance et de dépannage pour préparer le système à un déploiement sur le terrain à grande échelle.
• A systems mindset and intuition for debugging; when anything could be wrong, you know how to narrow down the possibilities
• Curiosity and a willingness to learn and work in a variety of embedded environments, from running on bare metal, to using and RTOS and integrating with embedded Linux
• Our team uses a hybrid in-office and distributed work environment, centered around our headquarters in South San Francisco, CA
• Strong software engineering skills, with proficiency in at least one strongly typed language
• Experience building and maintaining real-world deployed embedded systems, and handling the long tail of edge cases to ensure consistent safety, reliability and high performance
• Fluency in implementing peripheral drivers based on electrical schematics and datasheets, and debugging at this boundary in order to support prototype hardware evaluation
• We use C++, Rust, and Python
• You must be able to work from the office on a regular basis
