About The Role

Join Abridge, a fast-growing startup in the life sciences industry. As the Associate General Counsel - Life Sciences, you will be the first legal counsel dedicated to our newly created life sciences business. You will serve as a trusted advisor to product, engineering, and strategy teams, embedding legal and compliance frameworks into our product lifecycle. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the direction of our life sciences business as a founding member of an innovative new product line.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to product, engineering, and strategy teams, embedding legal and compliance frameworks into the product lifecycle.
  • Deliver practical, business-oriented guidance that supports innovation while ensuring compliance with healthcare, privacy, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Drive zero-to-one development of Abridge's Life Sciences legal strategy and guardrails, and support go-to-market activities, including drafting and negotiating agreements.
  • Passion for Abridge’s mission and the energy and drive to support a fast-moving product and operational teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise business judgement; interest in joining a small team that prioritizes autonomy and trust
  • 10+ years of legal experience, including 2+ years in a dedicated life sciences role
  • Familiarity with recent trends in artificial intelligence, particularly with large language models and responsible AI principles
  • Creativity in solving and navigating novel legal matters; experience in crafting new processes and language to meet the needs of a rapidly-moving enterprise in a novel industry
  • Strong understanding of and experience with pharmaceutical / biotech products and solutions
  • Comfort and confidence with juggling a high volume of projects, tight timelines, and competing priorities
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, particularly with technical teams, designers, and commercial teams, building relationships and earning their confidence
  • Proven ability to communicate and translate complex regulatory and legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for non-legal counterparts and colleagues
