Senior iOS Engineer (Media Foundations)

Join Reddit's Media Foundation team as a Senior iOS Engineer. In this pivotal role, you will shape Reddit's media experience across all devices, drive innovation, and deliver top-tier video experiences to users. You will architect a highly modular iOS video player, optimize global delivery and performance, and work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts. You will also mentor and coach other engineers on the team.

• Architect a highly modular, easy-to-integrate iOS video player that enables other teams to build features effortlessly while delivering first-class performance for users.
• Partner with backend media infrastructure and CDN teams to optimize global delivery and performance.
• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel media products and features that our users will love.
• A track record of leading projects that require cross-team and cross-functional collaborations
• 5+ years of hands-on, professional software development experience developing user-facing iOS mobile native applications at scale, using Swift
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and to deliver projects on schedule
• Excellent communication skills. You collaborate effectively with teams in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent technical expertise
• Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments. You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure
• Knowledge of AVFoundation for video and audio playback, asset management, streaming, editing, and exporting capabilities
• Familiarity with HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), MPEG-DASH, MP4, and other streaming protocols, as well as working knowledge of streaming frameworks and CDN integration for optimized video delivery
• Hands-on experience optimizing video player performance or building feature-rich products on top of core media playback components
• A proven track record of using data and performance metrics to relentlessly optimize apps, moving the needle from "good" to "world-class" user experiences
• Experience building robust, clean, and scalable APIs/components designed to be easily consumed by other internal engineering teams
