Software Engineer (iOS)

Join Cape, a company dedicated to building the definitive application for private mobile communication. As an iOS Software Engineer, you will own the entire feature lifecycle, from architectural design to App Store launch, using Swift and SwiftUI to solve complex technical challenges in security and cryptography. You will work in a tight-knit engineering team, shipping a product that makes privacy a reality. Your day-to-day will vary, but everything you work on will have a high impact.

• Take ownership of the mobile product lifecycle, from conceptualization, through design & development, all the way to launch.
• Maintain high coding standards through the development of guidelines, active participation in code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing among your team.
• Champion the security, performance, and stability of our applications. You will implement and oversee robust testing, monitoring, and release processes to guarantee a seamless and trustworthy user experience.
• Proven ability to learn continuously, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision
• Ability to learn new technology and concepts, even without in-depth experience
• Experience brainstorming and iterating with product designers
• Skill and comfort working in a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users
• Ability to take a thoughtful, practical approach to problem-solving that considers tradeoffs and avoids over-engineering
• Understanding of cryptographic systems and how to design privacy conscious solutions
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals and understand how technical decisions impact the people who will use what you're building
• Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance is beneficial, but not necessary
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to iterate quickly with teammates, incorporating feedback and holding a high bar for quality
• Proficiency in Swift and a strong foundational understanding of the iOS ecosystem (Architecture, App Lifecycle, etc.)
• Experience with Swift Concurrency (async/await) for building responsive, performant applications
• Professional experience with SwiftUI and a deep appreciation for building modern, declarative user interfaces
• Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics or similar field
• Experience with Android (Kotlin) development
• Familiarity with frameworks like Combine or Core Data
• Hands-on experience with the end-to-end App Store release process
• Knowledge of cryptography, secure enclave, or cellular technologies (eSIM, 4G, 5G)
• 4+ years of iOS software development experience
