Engineering Manager (Home & Explore)

• Lead the engineering function of the team, managing engineers to design, develop, and deliver scalable architecture and personalized experiences.
• Partner with product and design stakeholders to prioritize the roadmap and translate the company's strategic ambitions into actionable OKRs.
• Recruit, onboard, and grow the engineering team, ensuring engineering best practices, quality, and operational excellence across the team.
• An Engineering Manager within commuting distance of the Burnaby, BC office
• A track record coaching developers via mentoring, reviews, and retrospectives
• Experience recruiting and growing engineering teams from the ground up
• 10+ years’ of software engineering experience
• Strong partnership skills with product and design stakeholders — communicating technical tradeoffs and applying product judgment to reach the best customer outcomes
• Expertise in at least one general application-development language (Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, etc.), with a preference for React/React Native familiarity given Home's front-end surface
• Ability to design secure, scalable, performant software and give constructive feedback on team designs
• 3+ years’ experience in an engineering leadership role, with a track record managing small teams and delivering complex, full-stack / front-end-heavy projects
• Demonstrated aptitude and judgment for applying AI to developer productivity and, ideally, product features — including enabling safe AI tool adoption on the team
