About The Role
Join Okta as an Engineering Manager for Performance & Resilience, where you'll drive performance and resiliency improvements for the Auth0 product. You'll work with advanced technology, collaborate with various teams, and contribute to the strategic direction of the team. The ideal candidate has deep experience in performance testing, load testing frameworks, and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Drive performance and resiliency improvements for the Auth0 product, including building the testing infrastructure and frameworks.
- Collaborate with architects, tech leads, product owners, and security engineers to implement best practices related to performance and resiliency.
- Lead the strategy and execution for test dataset generation, ensuring load and performance tests use realistic, representative data.
- The ideal candidate is passionate about software quality and architecture, a self-starter, intellectually curious, and brings deep experience with performance testing, load testing frameworks, dataset generation, performance analysis, monitoring tooling, and chaos engineering
- Experience designing or significantly improving load testing frameworks (e.g. k6, Gatling, Locust, or similar) — including extensibility, test data management, and CI/CD integration
- Solid understanding of the JavaScript ecosystem (NodeJS and/or TypeScript)
- Hands-on experience with test dataset generation strategies, including synthetic data generation, data masking/anonymization of production data, and building datasets that reflect realistic load distributions
- Experience with Cloud-based Infrastructure as a Service (especially AWS)
- Containers (Docker, K8s)
- Experience with Chaos Engineering tooling (e.g. Chaos Toolkit, Gremlin, AWS, FIS, etc.)
- Understanding of microservices
- Prior management experience of a globally diverse team
- Datastores (SQL, NoSQL, Key/Value)
- Experience using APM tools, observability tools, or prior experience analyzing distributed systems performance bottlenecks
- Adaptable to changing requirements with the ability to manage a team through a pivot in priorities
- Experience with software architecture across the entire stack (design and implementation), including:
- Experienced in stakeholder management including alignment, prioritization, communication, and receiving and incorporating feedback
- Cloud Infrastructure experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
