About The Role

Join Okta, a leading identity and access management company, as a Staff Product Designer. In this role, you will lead user experience strategy and execution for our Okta Research & Development business unit, collaborating with cross-functional partners to take products from concept to launch. You will also mentor junior designers, advocate for design thinking, and continuously learn from customers and users.   • Lead user experience strategy and execution for Okta Research & Development (ORD) business unit, focusing on building a secure, trusted, and unified platform.
  • Guide and oversee the UX strategy alongside cross-functional partners, collaborating to take products from concept to launch and define the long-term strategy for your product area.
  • Design and facilitate co-creation design workshops with Product Management, Engineering, and Design to define opportunities within our products to solve valuable customer problems.
  • You have experience leading cross-discipline teams and exemplify leadership
  • You are passionate about solving complex problems, crafting and sharing product and design UX principles to help teams deliver cohesive user experiences
  • You are someone who sees design as a partner in shaping strategic and operational product and UX outcome; comfortable owning all stages of design for multiple teams within a given product area
  • You have the heart of a teacher and can help mentor and train people. You build and share empathy with people in order to deeply understand them and their needs
  • You are a thought leader, undertaking explorations into new technologies and territories while also delivering practical designs
  • You are passionate about supporting teams with a wide variety of experience, backgrounds, and interests
  • Your portfolio will show that you've worked on complex and/or technical projects across all aspects of the design process (conceptual design, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design)
  • You are great at collaborating, You share work early and often, and seek constructive feedback from peers and stakeholders
  • You bring a systems-thinking lens to the conversation
  • You’re curious and have experience incorporating AI into your design process, including the ability to craft tools, iterate on ideas collaboratively with AI, and document sophisticated prompts for scaled use
  • Evaluate AI-generated outputs for technical accuracy, design system adherence, and ease of use to serve as a necessary quality bar before designs move to production
  • Proficient in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and / or similar design tools
  • Possesses at least a basic understanding of HTML / CSS / JavaScript
  • Can provide a digital portfolio that showcases solid skills across a variety of projects, including work that has been seen and used successfully in actual products. (Portfolio link required when applying.)
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience as a Product Designer or UX Designer, with a portfolio showcasing shipped B2B or enterprise products
  • Degree in a related field or relevant work experience as a Product Designer or UX Designer
