Engineering Manager (Optimize Interfaces)

Join Adyen, a leading global payment company, as an Engineering Manager for the Optimize Interfaces team. In this role, you will lead the development and ownership of the engineering foundation behind Adyen Payments Optimization. You will build, mentor, and coach a diverse team of backend, machine learning, and data engineers. You will also collaborate with various teams to design and implement new services, set clear individual and team goals, and create an inspiring and collaborative team environment.

• Lead and mentor a diverse team of backend, machine learning, and data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Drive architecture strategy and technical leadership for the Optimization Interfaces team, ensuring high-quality engineering practices and scalable architecture design.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Product, Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, and other stakeholders to align team goals with strategic engineering ambitions.
• You are an excellent communicator and team player who can inspire others around them
• You have an affinity for the Payments optimization domain
• You have experience with Core Java, Distributed systems, machine learning products and BI tools (e.g., Looker)
• You have experience collaborating with senior leadership to set strategic direction including product roadmaps
• You can clearly communicate technical concepts to non-engineers
• You have experience in leading technical projects in a fast paced and critical environment
• You are able to define, implement and monitor performance to quickly identify opportunities for improvement in existing systems
• An energetic self-starter experienced in creating alignment between multiple teams
• You have experience in coaching and mentoring engineering talent
• Familiarity with working with Machine Learning and Data Engineering teams is a strong advantage
• 5+ years of experience in software development industry in a fast paced tech environment
• 5+ years experience in managing engineering teams within a Java environment
• Prior experience in leading or mentoring data professionals is a plus
