Senior Platform Engineer (Container Services)

Join Adyen, a global payment platform, as a Senior Platform Engineer in Chicago. In this role, you will design, build, and operate critical infrastructure systems, drive automation and reliability improvements, and help scale Adyen's platform. You will work closely with platform engineers across multiple regions and datacenters, contribute to architectural decisions, and help drive platform modernization initiatives.

• Design, implement, and maintain container orchestration (Kubernetes) and supporting infrastructure across our global private cloud.
• Develop tooling and automation that improves provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows, enabling self-service for engineering teams.
• Own the availability and performance of critical platform systems, participate in on-call rotations, and drive incident response and postmortem processes.
• Hands-on platform engineering experience: You have 7+ years of experience with platform, infrastructure, or software engineering
• Container technologies expertise: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes at scale, cluster operations, networking, troubleshooting. Familiarity with HashiCorp tools (Terraform, Consul, Nomad, Vault) and GitOps workflows (ArgoCD)
• On-prem / bare-metal experience: Comfortable operating on-prem infrastructure (i.e. outside of public cloud), bare-metal provisioning, hardware lifecycle, storage, and datacenter operations
• Strong scripting and programming skills: Intermediate-to-advanced Bash proficiency and intermediate-to-advanced skills in Python or Go. Ability to build production-quality tooling and automation
• Nice to have: Prior experience in FinTech or regulated industries where reliability and security are paramount. Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet), load balancers (HAProxy, Nginx, etc) and infrastructure-as-code at scale
• Linux proficiency: Advanced skills in system administration, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls), and security fundamentals. Comfortable troubleshooting complex issues across the stack
