About The Role
Join CoreWeave, a leading provider of high-performance cloud computing solutions. As a Senior Firmware Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining OpenBMC-based firmware for our next-generation Baseboard Management Controllers (BMCs). You will work independently on complex components, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and help set best practices for firmware quality and performance. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing firmware features, integrating and debugging firmware with new hardware, optimizing BMC performance and security, and contributing to continuous integration and automated testing frameworks.
- Design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware features for OpenBMC-based firmware.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate firmware with new hardware and validate performance.
- Contribute to continuous integration and automated testing frameworks for OpenBMC build and validation.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Comfort with debugging tools such as GDB JTAG and debugging over serial or remote consoles
- Familiarity with hardware interfaces and protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, IPMI, DMTF Redfish)
- Working knowledge of source code control system such as Git
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems
- Experience with hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and sensor integration
- Basic scripting skills in Python or Bash for build automation and validation
- Self-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality, maintainable code
- Communicates effectively with peers across hardware, firmware, and operations teams
- Comfort with Linux kernel configuration, device trees, and BSP-level integration
- Hands-on experience with OpenBMC, Yocto Project, and embedded Linux environments
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking; able to break down complex system-level issues
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and balances multiple priorities effectively
- Experience developing CI/CD pipeline for firmware builds and regression testing
- Exposure to large-scale datacenter or HPC environments
- Contributions to open-source firmware projects or upstream Linux development
- Experience: 5+ of professional experience in firmware or embedded systems development, including direct work with Linux-based OpenBMC firmware.
