Staff Software Engineer (Identity and Access Management)

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Identity & Access Management (IAM) team, you will be a primary architect of our IAM strategy, leveraging your expertise in identity systems to design, extend, and harden our platform. This high-impact leadership role requires balancing rapid execution with long-term technical vision, leading the design and implementation of distributed systems for authentication and authorization, and championing a security-first mindset across the organization.

• Design, extend, and harden a platform that secures high-performance cloud infrastructure.
• Lead the design and implementation of high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems for authentication and authorization.
• Partner with Product and Engineering Leadership to translate complex requirements into a multi-year technical roadmap.
• 8+ Years of Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in a production environment using one or more of Go, TypeScript, or React
• Cloud-Native Mastery: Deep understanding of Kubernetes, microservices architecture at scale, and advanced CI/CD patterns
• Enterprise Security Acumen: Solid knowledge of the security, compliance (SOC2, HIPAA, etc.), and governance needs of sophisticated enterprise customers
• Technical Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading large, cross-functional projects from inception to planet-scale deployment with measurable business impact
• Analytical Problem Solving: Expert-level ability to debug complex, intermittent issues within distributed environments
• 5+ Years of IAM Domain Expertise: Proven track record of developing identity products and a deep mastery of standards including OIDC, OAuth2.0, SAML, and JWT
• Strategic Communication: Superb ability to synthesize ambiguous requirements into clear technical designs and communicate trade-offs to both executive and technical audiences
• Policy-as-Code: Experience with modern authorization frameworks such as Open Policy Agent (OPA) or Cedar
• Emerging Tech Knowledge: Familiarity with AI/ML workloads, GPU-based infrastructure, and the unique security challenges of MLOps at scale
• Architectural Transformation: Experience leading the decomposition of monolithic architectures into high-performance microservices
• AI-Augmented Development: Familiarity with leveraging AI agents (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate the software development lifecycle
