Staff Software Engineer (Infrastructure, Marimo)

Join Marimo, a company dedicated to building the best open-source environment for working with data. As a Staff Software Engineer on the molab team, you will co-design and implement the backend architecture of molab, a cloud-hosted marimo notebook service. You will solve for high availability, low latency, stability, and fraud and abuse. This is a high-impact role with rapid growth and challenging greenfield problems.

• Co-design and implement the backend architecture of molab, focusing on high availability, low latency, stability, and fraud prevention.
• Design molab to run on CoreWeave's specialized Kubernetes-based clusters and integrate with CoreWeave object storage, ensuring efficient GPU utilization.
• Collaborate with the molab team to solve challenging greenfield problems and contribute to the rapid growth of the product.
• Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant systems
• Expertise in computer systems, including parallel computing (threading, multiprocessing), concurrency (asynchronous programming), networking/inter-process communication
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• Experience with containerization, container orchestration (kubernetes), scheduling, networked filesystems, resource allocation, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure
• Strong fundamentals that are language agnostic
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal†
• You’re an expert in building highly scalable cloud infrastructure
• Empathy for practitioners and researchers in AI, ML, data engineering, NLP, or other quantitative work
• Experience with GPU resource allocation and sharing
• Basic experience with or awareness of the Python stack for AI/ML
• You’re curious about how developers in AI, ML, and data experiment with models and code
• You love to build empower developers by building performant and scalable tools
• Proficiency with Python and Python packaging
