Product Design Manager (Vertical Experiences)

Join BetterUp as a Product Design Manager, where you will lead and mentor a team of four product designers. In this player-coach role, you will manage design operations, ensure quality and coherence across multiple interconnected surface areas, and contribute to team-wide rituals. You will also partner directly with VP Product counterparts and surface experience quality issues. • Manage and mentor a pod of four product designers, overseeing design operations and maintaining craft standards.
• Ensure coherence and quality across interconnected surface areas, including partner experience, individual coaching, group coaching, and coach experience.
• Collaborate with VP Product counterparts to align on priorities and tradeoffs, and contribute to team-wide rituals such as cross-pod critiques and design jams.
• A track record of getting design upstream, not just executing on PM direction
• Experience with AI-powered design tools and workflows (e.g., AI-assisted prototyping, generative design, AI-powered user research analysis)
• Experience managing product designers across multiple product areas simultaneously
• Comfort operating without perfect information in a fast-moving environment
• 7+ years of product design experience, including people management experience
• Proficiency with Figma and modern design tools; familiarity with prototyping and design systems workflows
• Player-coach mindset—craft and taste are as important as management skills
• Strong systems thinking—the surfaces you own span B2B, B2C, and two-sided interactions
• Familiarity with enterprise B2B design patterns and complex administrative workflows
• Experience with two-sided marketplace or platform design
• Experience designing for coaching, health, or human development platforms
• Background integrating AI capabilities into product experiences
