Senior Software Engineer (Services)

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a small engineering pod that owns problems end-to-end and moves quickly from idea to production. You will design and build shared backend services and APIs, define service boundaries and data models, and own the full software development lifecycle. You will also contribute to domain modeling and system design decisions, ensure services are scalable and reliable, and improve system cohesion. This role requires strong architectural thinking, hands-on execution, and familiarity with modern AI-enabled development environments.

• Design and build shared backend services and APIs used across multiple systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and reusability.
• Own the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from design and development to testing, deployment, and iteration, while balancing speed with long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to domain modeling and system design decisions, improving system cohesion and reducing duplication across tools and products.

• Familiarity with modern AI-enabled development environments and practices
• Experience deploying and operating applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Familiarity with domain-driven design (DDD) principles
• Ability to balance AI-assisted development with sound system design and long-term maintainability
• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong backend expertise with the ability to operate across the full stack when needed
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools beyond basic code generation
• Deep experience with (i.e., daily usage of) AI coding tools
• Ability to leverage AI across the workflow (e.g., prototyping, debugging, test generation, QA, code review, security analysis)
• Solid understanding of the full SDLC
• Experience designing service-oriented or distributed systems
• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• CI/CD and modern DevOps practices
• Messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, SQS), Event sourcing, CQRS patterns
• API design (REST, GraphQL, event-driven systems)
• Data modeling (SQL and NoSQL)
• Experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, TypeScript, Golang, Rust
• Observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing)
• Basic understanding of data engineering principles
