About The Role
Join our team as a Senior/Staff Controls Engineer, where you will play a critical role in advancing the future of robotics and autonomous driving. In this impactful position, you will develop robust and optimized production-level control software, investigate machine learning for vehicle dynamics, and collaborate closely with engineers across various teams. - Collaborate with engineers to develop robust, reliable, and optimized production-level control software for autonomous systems.
- Investigate and implement machine learning techniques to improve vehicle performance and drivability.
- Develop vehicle motion monitors to ensure compliance with functional safety requirements and enhance control performance.
- Passionate about solving real-world challenging autonomous driving problems
- Comfortable working with GenAI-assisted engineering workflows (e.g. Claude Code, Gemini, Cursor)
- Deep knowledge of vehicle dynamics, controls theory, and control strategy development and testing
- MS or Ph.D. (preferred) in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, aerospace, robotics, or a closely related field
- Implementation experience with classical and modern controls methods and/or ML for Controls
- Self-starter with strong drive, accountability, and the ability to adapt quickly to new problems
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- 5+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years focusing on developing and deploying L2+ or higher level automated driving controls software at scale
- Strong foundation in math (geometry, calculus, probability) and physics (kinematics, dynamics), and analytical skills
- Proven ability to collaborate within and across teams
- Strong embedded C (preferred) or C++ programming skills
- Deep knowledge in vehicle dynamics, controls theories, control strategy development and testing
