About The Role

Join Strava, the leading social network for athletes. As the Director of Product Design, you will lead design across multiple product verticals, manage a team of 5 designers, and contribute to product strategy. You will have a direct impact on the design direction and quality of our products, and be a senior voice in Strava's global design organization.

  • Director-level (or equivalent) experience in Product Design, with a track record of owning design direction across multiple products and managing a team of designers
  • A clear design philosophy and the ability to communicate it; you bring people along with your thinking, not just your output
  • Demonstrated ability to raise craft and quality across a team — you develop others and build a culture where quality is expected, named, and consistently raised
  • Consumer product design experience at meaningful scale — you've worked on products that real people depend on, and that responsibility shows in how you work
  • Based in San Francisco
  • Strong cross-functional partnership with PM and Engineering at a senior level; you've influenced major product decisions and know how to hold a perspective with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to set and articulate a clear design vision — not just reacting to what's in front of you, but establishing a point of view on where the product should go and bringing others along with it
  • Hands-on maker: still in the work at a high level — able to give precise, substantive craft feedback, engage in design decisions at the detail level, and set the bar through your own taste and judgment, not just management
