About The Role

The Family Services Specialist II is an experienced, journey-level social worker with the City of Winchester's Social Services Department, working under general supervision across Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, and Foster Care/Adoption programs. Employees perform routine to mid-level casework activities — including home visits, crisis intervention, assessments, family partnership meetings, and service plan development — with casework periodically reviewed by a supervisor before action is taken. The role also involves court testimony, case management, program monitoring, budget tracking, and coordination with multi-disciplinary and interagency teams. Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field (or any Bachelor's degree with two or more years of relevant experience), and a BSW/MSW with a Virginia Social Work license is preferred, along with bilingual English–Spanish skills.
