About The Role

Join Benchling, a leading life sciences R&D platform, as a Product Manager for our Developer Platform. In this role, you will be at the intersection of systems integration and developer experience, working to anticipate the needs of cutting-edge life sciences teams and ensuring that Benchling is ready to meet those needs. You will own the end-to-end roadmap for our developer-facing products, work cross-functionally with various teams, and establish feedback loops to shape roadmap decisions. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the life sciences industry.

  • Own the end-to-end roadmap for Benchling's developer-facing products, including REST APIs, MCPs, SDKs, API playground, code examples, and code recipes.
  • Establish feedback loops through interviews, support signals, and usage data to ensure that learnings shape roadmap decisions across the Build organization.
  • Work cross-functionally with Solutions Engineering, Partnerships, and Customer Success to build the platform foundation that makes extensibility possible.
  • Developer empathy at your core: you obsess over the developer experience and are constantly thinking about how AI-era tooling (MCPs, LLM-friendly APIs, agentic workflows) can supercharge what developers can do with Benchling
  • Strong communicator: you write crisp requirements and can present clearly to engineers, stakeholders, and customers alike
  • 3-5 years of product management experience, with hands-on ownership of API, SDK, or developer platform products
  • Familiarity with the modern developer stack — APIs, SDKs, documentation, and developer onboarding; you understand the tradeoffs and know what good looks like
  • Technical fluency: you can read code, review API specs, and have credible conversations with engineers. You don't need to ship production code, but you need to deeply understand the systems you're building
  • Prior experience at a company with a platform business model or marketplace
  • Experience building developer communities, running beta programs, or managing developer relations programs
  • Familiarity with the life sciences or enterprise SaaS domain
